Privacy policy

Effective November 6, 2026. StormMarker is provided by Guiding Dawn Web. We collect the email address used to sign in, the ZIP code and radius you select, alert preferences, and sign-in and delivery records needed to operate the service.

How your data is used

We verify account access and send requested storm-report notifications. Your ZIP-code center and radius are used to filter public reports. We do not sell your contact information or use it for unrelated advertising.

Service providers

StormMarker uses Vercel for hosting, Neon for database storage, Resend for email delivery, Zippopotam.us for ZIP-code coordinates, and Iowa Environmental Mesonet for storm report data. The interactive map loads OpenStreetMap tiles and Leaflet from a CDN. Those services may receive basic connection data when you use them.

Cookies

StormMarker uses a strictly necessary secure session cookie when you sign in. We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies.

Storage and choices

Account information and territory settings are retained while you use the service; operational records may remain to support security and troubleshooting. Sign-in codes expire after ten minutes. You can disable alert emails in your territory dashboard. For deletion requests, use Guiding Dawn Web's published contact channels.

Changes

We may update this privacy policy as the product evolves.
